The Language And Interaction Research (LAIR) Group at Michigan State University investiages problems in the cross-fields
of speech and language processing and human-computer interaction. LAIR has two research goals: (1) to promote understanding on
how context (e.g., non-verbal modalities, discourse) plays an important role in language understanding and (2) to develop
algorithms and systems that incorporate rich context to improve automated language understanding for various applications
(e.g., human machine conversation). The research projects at LAIR have been supported by National Science Foundation, Disruptive
Technology Office(DTO), and MSU IRGP program.
