The Language And Interaction Research (LAIR) group at Michigan State University investigates the context of language use in natural language processing. LAIR has two main research goals:

  1. to model rich context (e.g., non-verbal modalities, discourse) and to understand its role in the use and process of human language;
  2. to develop algorithms and systems that incorporate context to improve automated language processing for NLP and HCI applications.
