The Language And Interaction Research (LAIR) lab at Michigan State University investigates problems in the inter-related fields of speech and language processing and human-computer interaction. LAIR has two research goals:
- (1) to promote understanding on how context (e.g., non-verbal modalities, discourse) plays an important role in language understanding
- (2) to develop algorithms and systems that incorporate rich context to improve automated language understanding for various applications (e.g., human machine conversation)
