The Language And Interaction Research (LAIR) lab at Michigan State University investigates problems in the interrelated fields of speech and language processing and human-computer interaction. LAIR has two research goals:
- to promote understanding of context (e.g., non-verbal modalities, discourse) and its role in language understanding;
- to develop algorithms and systems that incorporate context to improve automated language understanding for NLP and HCI applications.
